Oct. 30, 1884: Chatsworth's town hall is nearly ready. Chatsworth's new town hall would open on Nov. 7 "with a grand concert," the Markdale Standard announced on Oct. 30, 1884. The paper praised the village, saying the citizens, "and especially the building committee have exhibited commendable energy in the erection of a Hall." It urged the public to show their thanks by "liberally patronizing the opening entertainment." The same page reported that a cyclone had unroofed buildings around Owen Sound on Friday, Oct. 17.
