About The Chatsworth Banner
The Chatsworth Banner is back.
The name goes back to 1896. That year, according to a 1996 history column in the Owen Sound Sun Times, a new paper set up in Chatsworth as a rival to George Blyth's Chatsworth News. The column called it “Nelson's Chatsworth Banner.” Original issues from 1909 to 1911 survive in the collections of the Archives of Ontario. These are reminders that this community has long wanted a paper of its own.
A great deal has changed since then. On January 1, 2000, the Village of Chatsworth and the townships of Holland and Sullivan came together to form today's Township of Chatsworth. The new Banner serves that whole community: its hamlets, farms, back roads and the people who live along them.

Our standards
We report facts we can verify. We tell you where our information comes from, naming our sources in the story itself, and we rely on primary and authoritative records wherever we can. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and openly, and we note the correction on the story.
Help us tell Chatsworth's story
Local news works best when the community takes part. If you know of something we should look into, a meeting we should attend or a neighbour whose story deserves telling, we'd like to hear from you.
We're also looking for pieces of our own history. If you have old copies of the Chatsworth Banner tucked away in an attic, a scrapbook or a family Bible, please get in touch. We'd love to see them, and with your permission, to help preserve them.
Send news tips and old copies to tips@chatsworthbanner.ca. For general questions and corrections, write to news@chatsworthbanner.ca. For advertising and business inquiries, contact advertising@chatsworthbanner.ca.
