Road & Weather Watch: A mild, showery week as the Sideroad 9A bridge job passes its expected finish date
No word yet on the Sideroad 9A bridge, and a warm start to the week turns cooler and wetter
By David Ellis · · 3 min read

Here's what drivers in the Township of Chatsworth need to know for the week of Nov. 2.
Township roads
Sideroad 9A bridge closure. The township's closure notice said the replacement of Bridge 39 on Sideroad 9A, about 800 metres east of Grey Road 3, was expected to be finished by Oct. 30, but could take longer depending on the weather. As of early Monday, the township had not posted a reopening notice, so drivers should expect the closure to remain until it does. Residents and businesses on the road can get in from the east or the west, and the signed detour uses Grey Road 3, Sideroad 8 and Concession 8.
Fall paving. The scheduled end dates in the township's 2026 road construction notice have now passed: Oct. 27 for Sideroad 60 and Concession 10, and Oct. 29 for Concession 2 and Concession 3A. The township said those dates were approximate. As of early Monday, it had not posted a completion or extension notice. Our earlier story has more on the work.
Questions about township roads go to the township office at 519-794-3232.
County roads and highways
Grey County posts its closures and construction on its Municipal 511 map at roads.grey.ca. The county's road conditions page still says winter road reporting has not started for the season. County road questions go to 519-376-7337, and the county's road conditions hotline is 1-866-266-7569.
As of early Monday morning, the 511 Ontario listings on our travel page showed no closures or construction on Highway 6 or Highway 10 in the township. The nearest items were daytime lane closures for construction on Highway 21 near Allenford and Amberley, daytime construction on Highway 26 at Thornbury, and moving maintenance lane closures on Highway 26 between Clearview and Springwater.
Plowing
Neither the township nor Grey County has announced the start of winter maintenance yet. We'll report it here when they do.
The week's weather
Environment Canada's forecast for the Owen Sound area, issued at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, calls for unusually mild days early in the week, then a cooler, showery stretch:

There were no weather alerts in effect when we checked early Monday morning. Normal for this time of year is a high of 9 and a low of 2, so Monday through Wednesday are forecast to run well above normal. Sunset is now just after 5 p.m., so expect more of the drive home in the dark, on wet roads. Check weather.gc.ca and 511on.ca before a long drive.
