Bruce Power is donating $360,000 to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, the company said in a release.
The foundation will use the money to support theranostics fellowships at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, part of University Health Network, over the next three years, according to the release.
The donation marks four years since the commercial launch of Bruce Power's Isotope Production System. In October 2022, Unit 7 became the first commercial power reactor in the world to produce lutetium-177, an isotope used in cancer treatment, the company said. A second production line has since been added.
"This generous donation will be instrumental in helping to fund vital research and clinical care at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre," Dr. Miyo Yamashita, the foundation's president and CEO, said in the release.
