Dundalk and Egremont dump hours: A guide to Southgate's transfer stations
When the Dundalk and Egremont transfer stations are open, what they take, and where to check fees, from the Township of Southgate's own information.

Southgate doesn't have a "dump" by that name. The township runs two transfer stations, one in Dundalk and one in Egremont, and any Southgate resident can use either one during open hours.
Here's what the township lists for each site.
Dundalk Transfer Station
- Address: 752178 Ida Street South, Dundalk, south of Grey County Road 9 (Main Street)
- Payment: Cash only, the township says
- Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., all year
- Thursday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., April and May only
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., November to March; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., April to October
Egremont Transfer Station
- Address: 413013 Southgate Sideroad 41, RR 4 Durham
- Directions: The township says to go 4 km east of Varney on Wilder Lake Road to Sideroad 41, turn left at the "T" and take the first entrance on the right
- Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., all year
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., November to March; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., April to October
The township's web page shows shorter Saturday hours from November through March. With November starting soon, plan on Saturday hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at both sites.
The township's 2026 Waste Information sheet lists Saturday hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., so if you're planning a late-Saturday trip in October, call the township at 519-923-2110 to confirm first.
What you can bring
Southgate's 2026 Waste Information sheet lists the bulky items both stations take. They include household garbage, recyclables, brush and clean wood, dirty wood, drywall, shingles, furniture and mattresses, appliances (with or without Freon), scrap steel and large metal items, clothing, electronics, gently used items, and tires (up to 10 a day).
Fees: The township says a small fee applies to brush, dirty wood, drywall, appliances, furniture and mattresses, and shingles. Other items are free for Southgate residents. The rates are in Schedule G of the township's fees and charges by-law. Call the township before your trip to check the cost.
Electronics are free. Southgate is a registered collector with the Electronic Products Recycling Association, and both stations take electronics free of charge. That includes TVs, computers, monitors, printers, phones and other items with a battery or cord.
Clothing: Both sites have Diabetes Association clothing bins. The township asks people not to put clothing in their curbside carts.
Household hazardous waste: the HazBin
Paint, antifreeze, batteries, propane and other pressurized tanks, solvents, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs and similar household hazardous waste go to the township's HazBin, which switches between the two stations each month:
- At Dundalk: February, March, April, August, September and October
- At Egremont: January, May, June, July, November and December
That means the HazBin is at Dundalk for the rest of October and moves to Egremont for November and December.
The township says industrial-grade hazardous waste isn't accepted, and that medicines and sharps should go back to the place you bought them.
Not sure where something goes?
The township has a sorting tool, Sort Southgate, and a cart collection calendar for curbside pickup. You can reach the township at 519-923-2110 or info@southgate.ca.
