The Township of Chatsworth says two waste disposal sites are available to all Chatsworth residents: the Sullivan Transfer Station and the Markdale site. (If you're looking for the Egremont Transfer Station, that one is run by the Township of Southgate, not Chatsworth. See our Southgate guide.)
Sullivan Transfer Station

- Payment: Cash only, the township says
- Summer (April 1 to Oct. 31): Mondays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Hazardous waste
The township says Chatsworth residents can use the City of Owen Sound's Household Hazardous Waste Depot at 1900 20th Street East, Owen Sound, through an agreement with the City. Hours on disposal days are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The last 2026 date is Saturday, Oct. 24. Bring valid ID showing your home address, and fill out the township's Hazardous Waste Form (PDF).
The depot takes paint, antifreeze, batteries, propane tanks, motor oil and filters, pesticides, pool chemicals, gasoline, solvents, fluorescent tubes and CFLs (unbroken), and prescription medicines, among other items. It doesn't take ammunition, explosives or flares (the township says to contact police about those), smoke detectors, PCB-containing items, syringes, or broken or leaking containers.
Batteries and electronics
- Batteries: Put used batteries in a clear, sealable bag and drop them in the collection box at the Township Office.
- Electronics: The township's page lists accepted electronics, including TVs, computers, monitors, printers, phones and audio equipment. Household appliances, power tools, video game devices, GPS units and headphones are not accepted. Remove your personal data first.
Curbside pickup
Since July, Waste Management (WM) has collected carts every other Tuesday for the township. East of Highway 6 (former Holland Township) and west of Highway 6 (former Sullivan Township and the Village of Chatsworth) are picked up on alternating weeks. Carts must be out by 7 a.m. To report a missed pickup, contact WM at 1-800-561-1655 or canresidential@wm.com. Check your dates on the 2026 calendar.
