Kevin Eccles was acclaimed as mayor on Aug. 24, according to a declaration of acclamation signed by clerk Jamie M. Eckenswiller. School board trustees Tracy Schaus-Atkinson (Bluewater District School Board) and Michael Salvatore (Conseil scolaire catholique Providence) were also acclaimed.

What candidates are talking about
Bayshore Broadcasting News published West Grey candidates' written answers to 11 questions on Oct. 15. Roads and bridges came up again and again when candidates were asked to name the No. 1 issue facing West Grey. One respondent wrote that the municipality has "114 structures, many of them are at the end of their lifespan." Another put the figure at "140 bridges and structures."
Taxes were the other big theme. Several respondents said West Grey's tax increases over the past four years added up to more than 27 per cent. One respondent instead said West Grey's taxes are "3rd lowest" of the nine Grey County municipalities. Candidates also addressed the Durham hospital, regional transit, housing and possible AI data centres.
The Banner hasn't tied individual answers to named candidates, because the version of Bayshore's page we reviewed doesn't clearly label every response. See Bayshore's site for the full answers.
Election day is Monday, Oct. 26. For voting details, see westgrey.com or call the municipal office at 519-369-2200.
