The Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound will hold its main annual fundraiser, Palette to Palate: Let's Go Wild!, on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 7 to 10 p.m., the City of Owen Sound announced Oct. 15.
The theme draws on Thomson's love of the Canadian wilderness, according to the city's release. Proceeds support the gallery's exhibitions, programs and community initiatives.
The release lists food by Chef Jason Merton, music by DJ Todd, hands-on art with artist Heather Travis, behind-the-scenes Vault Tours, and a silent auction of items donated by local businesses. Radio personality Philly Markowitz will be MC.
Guests are invited to dress the part: "bright colours, animal prints, statement pieces and anything fun, flashy or generally fabulous." The gallery's curators will give prizes for the wildest outfits, the release says.
"This year's theme draws inspiration from Tom Thomson's connection to the land and the wild places that shaped his life and work," director and chief curator Aidan Ware said in the release.
Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy called the gallery "an important part of what makes our city a vibrant place to live and visit."
Tickets
Tickets are $75, according to the release. They're sold online at tomthomson.org under Events, where buyers need to log in or create a PerfectMind account, or in person at the gallery. A wine-and-cheese Perfect Pairings session with Robert Ketchin, featuring Georgian Hills Vineyards and Ardiel Cider House, costs $20 at the event. Vault Tours are $10. There's a cash bar.
The title sponsor is 89.3 CFOS FM, the release says. For more information, the gallery lists fundraising co-ordinator Emily Colman at 519-376-1932 ext. 5008.
