The Municipality of Meaford will premiere a documentary about its first 25 years as one municipality next month at Meaford Hall.
Our Communities, Our Stories marks 25 years since the former Town of Meaford, Township of St. Vincent and Township of Sydenham came together, the municipality said in a news release. The premiere is Sunday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m.
"This documentary is a meaningful way to reflect on the people, places and stories that have shaped the Municipality of Meaford over the past 25 years," Mayor Ross Kentner said in the release.
The film uses interviews, local voices and footage from across the municipality, the release said. It looks at Meaford's past, the changes amalgamation brought, the community's identity today and what future generations should understand about the place.
It is part of the municipality's 25th-anniversary campaign, also called Our Communities, Our Stories. The municipality says the campaign recognizes the hamlets, villages, rural areas and urban centre that shape Meaford's shared identity.
Admission is free. The municipality is asking people who can to bring non-perishable food for the food bank.
