Three people face charges after a Grey Highlands break-in, and police say they seized a loaded handgun and a ballistic vest during searches.
Grey Bruce OPP said the charges follow a Community Street Crime Unit investigation into a break and enter in Grey Highlands on Sept. 17.
On Oct. 2, officers with help from several specialized OPP units executed search warrants at two Grey Highlands properties, police said. A 35-year-old Grey Highlands resident was arrested and charged with "numerous firearm-related offences," two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and break and enter and steal a firearm, according to the OPP. Officers also seized a loaded 9mm firearm, a prohibited extended magazine and a ballistic vest, police said.
Police allege that a 39-year-old Grey Highlands resident and a 47-year-old Grand Valley resident were also involved in the Sept. 17 break-in. The two had been arrested on Sept. 25, when officers responded to a break and enter in progress at a Grey Highlands home, the OPP said. Both face multiple Criminal Code charges, and the 39-year-old also faces drug and firearm charges, police said.
All three were held for bail hearings and remanded into custody, according to police. The OPP has not released their names. The charges have not been proven in court.
Police say the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information can call Grey Bruce OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
