Halloween is Saturday, Oct. 31.
There are no official trick-or-treat hours for Chatsworth. As of Oct. 20, the Township of Chatsworth hadn't posted trick-or-treat times or a township Halloween event on its website or events calendar. We also didn't find a Chatsworth listing on Visit Grey or a 2026 Halloween notice from Grey Bruce OPP or Grey Bruce Public Health. We'll update this guide if any of them post something.
Community event: The Chatsworth Agricultural Society lists Halloween in the Village for Saturday, Oct. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Pavilion in the Village of Chatsworth. The Society calls it "a great event for children" and says more details will follow.
Safety tips from Health Canada
These are from Health Canada's Halloween safety page.
Costumes
- Make sure costumes fit well, since long or loose ones can lead to trips and falls. Choose bright colours, or add reflective tape or a vest.
- Use face paint or makeup instead of masks when possible. Masks that don't fit properly can block vision and make breathing difficult. Do a patch test first.
- Keep children away from open flames, including candles in jack-o'-lanterns. "Flame resistant does not mean fire-proof," Health Canada says.
- Keep button batteries from light-up costumes and accessories away from children.
Out trick-or-treating
- Young children should always be supervised by an adult. Older children should go in groups, plan a route through populated, well-lit areas, and set a time to be home.
- Only visit homes with the outside lights on. Never enter a stranger's home or car.
- Stay on sidewalks or paths. Cross at intersections and crosswalks, look both ways, and never cross between parked cars.
- Wear bright, reflective material and carry a flashlight.
- Dress for the weather, and bring warmer clothes if it's going to get colder.
When you get home
- Inspect all treats before children eat them. Throw away anything opened, unwrapped, damaged or homemade.
- Don't give small, hard or chewy candies to children under 3, because they're a choking risk.
- Parents of children with allergies can see Health Canada's Halloween food safety tips, which advise reading every label and skipping treats that don't list ingredients.
If you're handing out treats
- Keep walkways clear and turn on outdoor lights.
- Use flashlights or battery-powered candles instead of open flames, and never leave lit candles unattended.
