Chatsworth Fire passes water tanker test; rural insurance rates may drop
Residents can ask the fire department for a copy of the certificate for their insurer

The Township of Chatsworth Fire Department has passed a water tanker shuttle accreditation test, and that may mean lower insurance rates for some rural residents.
The department completed the two-hour test on Thursday, Sept. 24, certifying its capabilities in providing water for rural firefighting, according to a media advisory the township shared on Facebook on Wednesday.
Fire Chief Mike Givens said that "with this accreditation, rural residents with homes, farms and businesses within the Township of Chatsworth Fire Department coverage area may be eligible for a rate reduction on their insurance."
Givens thanked the department's mutual aid partners, Intertownship Fire Department, West Grey Fire Service and the Chesley and Area Fire Department, for their help with the accreditation, the advisory says.
CK News Today reported a similar accreditation for the department in October 2021.
