Bruce County council endorsed a five-year plan for older adults and approved its 2027 ambulance response-time targets on Oct. 15, the county says.
Age-friendly strategy. Council endorsed the Bruce County Age-Friendly Community Strategy 2027-2031, according to the county's meeting highlights. The county says the plan "will help guide services and supports that enable older adults to remain independent, connected and engaged in their communities." It focuses on five areas: supporting aging in place, connected and inclusive communities, accessible communities, healthy aging and well-being, and leadership and collaboration. The county says it will report progress to council every year.
Ambulance targets. Council approved the 2027 Land Ambulance Response Time Performance Plan, which goes to Ontario's Ministry of Health by Oct. 31. The plan is required every year and sets response-time targets for different types of emergency calls. Staff recommended keeping the 2027 targets unchanged, the county said. Council also heard an update on the Medical Priority Dispatch System, which changes how emergency calls are triaged. Staff will watch how it affects response times, according to the highlights.
Also on the agenda. Council also dealt with a library services agreement, a Saugeen Shores subdivision and an integrity commissioner appointment, but the highlights list them only as reports and don't give the outcomes.
Council next meets Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m.
