Owen Sound voting opens Oct. 16, online and by phone

Voting in Owen Sound's 2026 municipal and school board election opens Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m., the City says.

This is Ontario's regular municipal election, with election day on Monday, Oct. 26. Voters can cast a ballot by internet or telephone from Oct. 16 until 8 p.m. on Oct. 26, 24 hours a day, the City said in a news release.

Voters use the credentials in the Voter Information Letter mailed to them, the City said. Anyone who hasn't received a letter can still vote by going to City Hall or an Election Centre to confirm their eligibility.

The City's Election Centres will help with registration, updates to voter information and internet voting. They also have kiosks for voting on site:

• City Hall, 808 2nd Ave. E.: noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 16 and from Oct. 19 to 23; noon to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26.
• Heritage Place Mall, 1350 16th St. E.: noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 17 and 18 and on Oct. 24 and 25; noon to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26.

Election officials will also visit long-term care and retirement homes, the hospice and the hospital, the City said.

If you get a voter letter addressed to someone who doesn't live with you, write "Return to Sender" on the envelope and mail it back. The City reminds residents it's illegal to open mail not addressed to them.
